| | Design:
| | When a design is born it's given a "family" name and a "sibling" name. Our little blue boy police officer; for example, might be given the family name of "d1" and a sibling name of "d1a".
When an existing work is modified to create a new design it's given a new sibling name within its family; for instance, if we added a large heart to accompany our little detective his sibling name might be "d1b". In the same manner, if a stop sign was added to our pint size Keystone Kop his sibling name might be "d1c".
To facilitate finding a single design, or an entire family of related works, all of our store's products are tagged with their family and sibling name. These three designs would be tagged "d1, d1a"; "d1, d1b"; and "d1, d1c" respectively on their individual product pages. |
There are several ways to utilize the family and sibling names to find products that are of interest to you:
| | Glance at the product's artist information section (highlighted in orange) and locate the phrase:
"Find other products with this design or similar themes."
Choosing the link design will find all products with the currently shown design (using the product's sibling name). Themes, on the other hand, will find all variations of the current design (using the product's family name). | | | | | | Click on the sibling or family name link within the tag section of a product page (highlighted in green). | | | | | | Type the sibling or family name into the "Search this Store" text field at the top left of each store page. |
|
| | Search:
| Located at the top left of each store page, just above the vertical category list, this handy tool allows you enter keywords, sibling or family names, or any other topic associated with a design. Its a good idea to use alternative words that have a similar meaning such as "police, cop, officer, sheriff" and so forth. Using the singular and plural version of a word also helps |
|
| | Tags:
| The tag section of each product page (highlighted in green) is located in the lower right and contains a series of "keywords" associated with a product. When these keyword links are clicked they initiate a product search based upon the tag shown.
A typical collection of tags for a product might look something like this:
Tags: d1, d1a, angelface, antique, babe, badge, baton, beat, cop, billy, club, billyclub, bluecoat, bobby, cadet, captain, child, children, constable, costume, deputy, detective, gumshoe, half-pint, heat, infant, inspector, junior, juvenile, keystone, kid, kiddie, kop, law, mounty, patrolman, police, policing, private eye, sergeant, sheriff, shield, slueth
Under certain circumstances a product's sibling and/or parent name tags may not be visible; however, one can still access these by using the special links provided in the product's artist information section (highlighted in orange). Alternatively, the store's "Search this Store" text box may be used to search for "invisible" tags. |
