【なかむら　きちえもん】変わり揚羽蝶。 屋号は播磨屋。３代目中村歌六の長男（二代目中村時蔵（養子・早世）を長男とすれば次男となる）を祖とする。一門に中村歌六、中村又五郎など。名跡の歴史は新しい。 ＜この蝶は普通の揚羽蝶と少し違い、丸味の多いのが特徴です。紋ではこのようなものを「変わり」と呼んで普通の紋と区別しています。・・ほとんどが江戸中期から続く名門であるのに対し吉右衛門は初代で、父の名を襲ぎませんでした。昭和二十六年、歌舞伎俳優ではじめて文化勲章を受章しました（泡坂妻夫著「家紋の話」より＞
