中輪に十枚笹に対い雀

【ちゅうわに じゅうまいささに むかいすずめ】笹紋／雀は竹林の中にいて竹とは切っても切れない。その実状からして、いきおい竹の「添え」として付けられたともみられる。しかし、古代人は、この雀をたんなる添えとはみない。依り代としての竹に神を招くための神使と考えた。八幡社の鳩や熊野社の烏と同じである。・・神を招ぶ、または神をまねく鳥なのである。（丹羽基二著「家紋百話(上)」／竹は、直接、そうした神社とは結びつかないけれど、依り代に付属する招き代である。（同書Ｐ３２０）／呼称は「江戸紋章集」によった。なお、「紋之泉」や「紋章大集成」では”丸に笹に向かい雀”としている。
