くまいざさ／竹中半兵衛の家紋／竹中半兵衛を戦国時代最高の軍師として評価する人は多い。主君、斎藤龍興の傲慢を懲らしめるため、わずか十六人で難攻不落の稲葉山城を占拠したことはよく知られている。また、その名城を惜しげもなく捨てて近江の山中に隠棲する無欲さも常人離れしている。その隠棲中に秀吉に説得されて彼の幕僚となったのだが、長篠合戦では武田軍の陽動作戦を察知して秀吉の窮地を救い、また、播磨攻略戦も彼の知略によるところが大きかった。だが、もともと体が丈夫でなかったのだろう。激務がたたって、播磨三木城攻めの最中に病に倒れて三十六歳の若さで亡くなってしまう。（「戦国武将の「家紋」がよくわかる本」（ＰＨＰ研究所）より抜粋）
