【ほりおめゆい】目結紋／堀尾氏は高階（たかしな）氏の後裔といい、尾張の供御世（くごせ）に住んでいた。藤吉郎時代から秀吉について、堀尾茂助といったのが、のちの吉晴。・・吉晴は秀吉の出るどこの戦いにも出て累功、天正１１年（１５８３）の若狭高浜城主に始まって、江州佐和山・遠州浜松と進んで、１２万石を領した。秀吉晩年には五大老に次ぐ重職三中老のひとりに挙げられてた。吉晴のあと、子の忠氏が継、関ヶ原の戦いでは東軍に属し、戦後出雲松江（２４万石）と石高は倍増した。しかし嗣子なく、寛永１１年（１６３４）あっけなく廃絶。（高橋賢一著「大名家の家紋」）
