大聖寺梅鉢

だいしょうじ うめばち／梅紋／この呼称は「紋典」「日本の紋章」によった。なお、「平安紋鑑」では“大聖寺前田家梅鉢”としている。／金沢の前田氏は剣状を成しているが、富山の前田氏は丁子状をなし、大聖寺の前田氏は瓜実状をなし・・・（沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」より）／本末嫡庶によって、家紋を区別することは、将軍家に限らず、諸大名の間においても行なわれていた。例えば、前田氏や毛利氏などの場合である。前田氏は一門に分かれて、加賀金沢・同国大聖寺・越中富山・上野七日市の四家となり、ともに梅鉢紋を本紋としているが、この梅鉢紋に各自多少の相異を設けて、これら四家を区別していた。即ち、本宋である金沢前田氏は剣梅鉢を用い、大聖寺前田氏は、この剣梅鉢の剣形を瓜実形にして瓜実梅鉢を用い、富山の前田氏は、これを丁子形とした丁子梅鉢を用い、七日市の前田氏は、これを欠如させた素梅鉢を用いたのである。（沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」より）
