This KAMON design, mimicry in butterflies, is variation of Clam and is called 'Hamaguri ko-cho' in JAPAN. ------------------------------------------- 【はまぐりこちょう】蛤紋 蛤を家紋に選んだ意義はまだ明瞭でないが、その形が優雅である点をとりあげたもので、尚美的意義に基づいた紋章であろう(沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」) 呼称は「紋典」によった。なお、「紋之泉」「平安紋鑑」「紋章大集成」「江戸紋章集」「紋の志をり」は、単に”蛤蝶”としている。
