02 Augustus' 2nd Sabine Legion - Ancient Rome T-Shirt

02 Augustus' 2nd Sabine Legion - Ancient Rome T-Shirt

This Legion was recruited in the Italian Sabine countryside by the Consul Pansa and Octavian in 43 BC. It first fought against Mark Antony, then under the 2nd Triumvirate it fought against Caesar's assassins at Philippi. It was stationed in Gaul until 30, and afterwards took part in Augustus' capmaigns against the Cantabrians from 25-13 BC, during which time it also built the Spanish colony of Acci. The Legion was stationed along the Rhine after the Tuetoburg Forest disaster in 9 AD, then fought in Emperor Germanicus' campaigns from 14-16, afterwards garrisoning a strategic crossing point on the Rhine. In 21 it took part in action against Gallic rebels that was commemorated with a triumphal arch in Orange. In 43 AD the Legion went with Emperor Claudius to Britain, where it was commanded by the future Emperor Vespasian. It was stationed in SW Britain for the next two decades. In 69 it marched on Rome under Emperor Vitellius in that Civil War, then returned to Britain under Vespasian after he'd won that conflict. After building the Antonine Wall between Edinburgh and Glasgow, finished in 142 AD, the Legion suffered severely fighting widespread rebellion in Northern Britain. In 196, Albinus tried using the British Legions to become Emperor, but then-Emperor Severus defeated him. The II Augusta returned to Britain and was stationed in the North in 208, where it remained for centuries. It's possible that the II Brittannica Legion originated from a mobile unit of the II Augusta. It's emblems were Capricorn, the God of War Mars, and primarily the Pegasus. "Augusta Sabina" - Legion of Augustus, formed in the Sabine Country.

I found the shirt quality itself to be well made. Unfortunately I found that the image quality of the artwork is low resoultion. So the art and words aren't as clear. I probably wont buy another shirt to be honest, but I'm glad I supported the podcast of which I'm a fan of. I was just hoping that for the price I paid, it would have been of better quality.
