In this 1914 photograph is Mexican general Alvaro Obregon, who in 1920 became president of Mexico. Next to him is a hero of the Mexican revolution, Francisco "Pancho" Villa, assasinated in 1923. To his right is Gen. John J. Pershing and to his right a young Lt. George Patton, who both later unsuccessfully attempted to capture Villa and stop his destructive raids on U.S. border towns.
