From 1919, actual above-the-fold Headlines of the AMERICAN ISSUE Newspaper announcing the prohibition dry era in America. The Anti-Saloon League was founded in Oberlin in 1893 by Howard Hyde Russell. In 1909 the organisation moved its printing operation, American Issue Publishing Company, to the small village of Westerville, Ohio. From the headquarters in Westerville, anti-alcohol information in massive quantities rolled off the presses onto trains and across America. A decade later the Anti-Saloon League's printing and lobbying efforts paid off when the 18th Amendment made prohibition the law of the United States in 1920. It was repealed in 1933 with the passage of the 21st Amendment.
