This design was adapted from "The Spirit of Transportation", a 1929 mural painted by artist Herman Sachs (1883–1940) for the porte-cochère ceiling of Los Angeles's "Bullock's Wilshire" department store. The mural depicts a train, aeroplanes, an oceanliner, and a large zeppelin of the late 1920s.
