The 1st saw combat during World War I, The pacific theatre of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom & the Iraq War. The 1st Marine Division is currently organised around four regiments: 1st Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Regiment, 7th Marine Regiment, & 11th Marine Regiment. Along with the 1st Tank Battalion, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st & 3rd Light Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion.
