2019 Kyra Sarakosti Calendar Poster
Here is a cute Lenten folk calendar to help mark the 48 days and 7 weeks leading up to Pascha /Orthodox Easter. This year (2019) Great Lent runs 11 March (Clean Monday) to 28 April (Pascha). This calendar is based on a Greek custom in which children design a seven-legged Lady Lent/Kyra Sarakosti (Lady 40-days), and every Saturday during Lent cut off one leg until Easter. Feel free to cut her away from the background and then cut off each leg with each passing week. In addition to having seven legs, this Kyra Sarakosti also has 48 days on her traditional dress for you to mark the passing of Great Lent. Each day has a gentle recommendation or family activity for that day. This year's Lady Lent is modelled from one of the traditional outfits of the ladies from the island of Lesvos/Lesbos/Mytilene, Greece.
