[410] Hong Kong Historical 1959-1997 Coat of Arms Throw Blanket

[410] Hong Kong Historical 1959-1997 Coat of Arms Throw Blanket

Introducing project “Cities of the World” series, part of the “World Heraldry 3D” collection by C.7 Design Studio, showcasing stunning digital paintings of city coats of arms and emblems from all over the world. Here you will find customisable products, featuring Hong Kong Historical Colonial Coat of Arms (1959-1997). Hong Kong (香港; "Fragrant Harbour"), officially known as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a region on the southern coast of China geographically enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour, and with a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of over seven million people, is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Hong Kong's population is 93.6% ethnic Chinese and 6.4% from other groups. Hong Kong's Cantonese-speaking majority originate mainly from the neighbouring Guangdong province,[10] from which many of them fled to escape wars and communist rule in mainland China from the 1930s to 1960s. Hong Kong was established as a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (1839–42). Hong Kong Island was first ceded in perpetuity to Great Britain, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and then the New Territories were put under lease in 1898. It was occupied by Japan during The Second World War (1941–45), after which the British resumed control until 1997. The amalgam of British and Chinese culture during the colonial era shaped the current culture of Hong Kong. For example, the educational system followed the British model until 2009. As a result of the negotiations and the 1984 agreement between China and Britain, Hong Kong was handed over to the People's Republic of China and became its first Special Administrative Region on 1 July 1997, under the principle of "one country, two systems" (the other special region, Macau, attained that status when Portugal handed it over in December 1999). Hong Kong has a different political system from mainland China. The arms had been in use in colonial Hong Kong since it was granted on 21 January 1959 and later adopted on the colonial flag in July of that year. The use of the arms (by the Hong Kong Government) ended in 1997 where it was replaced by the regional emblem.

A beautiful small blanket that is perfect for covering your legs while curled up in front of the fire, or for a decorative touch on the sofa. We also think it looks brilliant as a Christmas table centerpiece. We are delighted with it. The colors are absolutely perfect. Vibrant yet traditional. The pattern retains its lovely details despite the texture of the fabric. Very classy product that will not disappoint as a gift.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the cotton throw blanket. It was made with such high quality. I am just about to order another throw. The colors are so vibrate and the weaving is so neat. Affordable as well. I really love my throw.

A quality printed throw has its advantages. This is a much finer weave throw than its loopier cousins, and though lighter, it is worth the investment for custom room accessorizing. The back is much prettier than the typical brown, and the fringe on the long sides very vivid, the selvage nicely done. Before photographing, I washed the throw in cold water, delicate, with a thicker woven throw the same size. On tumble dry low, this throw was dry in half the time as the other. This is a very practical quality if you use throws for furniture covers or to wrap up in frequently. The sleekness of the fabric makes it a great layer for accenting or protecting without the feeling of sitting on too much stuff. Perfect for napping or when you feel a light chill coming on. The color printing is beautiful and on this fabric, matched the design and color of my Photoshop image. This is an advantage for blending room fabrics and colors. The fringe on the short sides prints the colors from the design image and therefore varies from the side fringe. I streaked a white fractal line through the plaid pattern to give the illusion of weaving. This printed as crisp as an illusory thread, and put some white in the short side fringe, showing another advantage of print vs loomed- for artistic purposes, line lines, detail, and color integrity can be planned and preserved. My loomed throws have color limitations and more of a needlepoint texture. Print throws reproduce an exact image. The throw felt a little stiff straight out of the package, but this went away in the first delicate wash. Of course I searched the wash water for ink or bleeding and there was none.
