Different universal qualities of human life are assigned to the 7 chakras. From these qualities, in turn, subjectively positive and negative forms of expression can be derived. In general, seven main chakras are distinguished. Each chakra vibrates in a basic colour corresponding to its task and is associated with certain organs and areas of the body. The seven main chakras also correspond to the seven main glands of the endocrine system (the endocrine system is the totality of all hormone-producing organs and cells). Also, each chakra controls a specific aspect of human behaviour, human development, and is in turn shaped by it. The lower chakras, whose energies vibrate more slowly, are associated with basic human needs and emotions. The finer energies of the upper chakras correspond to man's higher mental and spiritual aspirations and abilities.
