I took a shortcut through the garden and spied this cute critter sitting on an echinacea bloom. It was taking a long slow drink of nectar, so with damp clothing stuffed under my arm I stepped into the flower bed. I stood so still while snapping pictures that the butterfly was only disturbed when I finished and moved back. It paid no notice to me 5-6 inches away — I had become part of the environment. A lady on Facebook asked me how I got the butterfly to hold still. I said that I asked nicely.” Vickie lives on our 440-acre Cedar Mountain Farm in North Idaho. Surrounded by mountains and hay fields and wild flora and fauna, the forested farm offers dramatic clouds, scenic vistas, a rustic pond and rippling creek, and outdoor family adventures. Vickie is at home with rabbits, chickens, horses, sheep and goats, and loves to introduce them to guests of all ages.
