"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer - it sings because it has a song". This quote is often attributed to Maya Angelou, a contemporary poet/dancer/activist, but it actually goes back much further and is considered to be a Chinese proverb. The photo artwork is created using layers for texture including fields, mountains, flowers and grasses or grains, overlaid as transparencies with a photograph of a meadowlark singing. Some elements of this artwork are in soft focus. This is a male Western meadowlark, a black, brown, white and yellow songbird with a voice that sounds like a warbling flute.
