A Couple With Cast Shadows (by Emile Friant) Coffee Mug

This design features a painting by the French artist Emile Friant (1863–1932). It shows a young couple holding each other's hands as they cast dark shadows against the wall behind them. The light source in front of them highlights the couple's hands and faces, which can be seen as a symbol of their loving bond. Since they are wearing dark clothes, their bodies are reduced to silhouettes. It is an elegant effect that emphasizes the connection between the man and woman. The original painting was completed in 1891.
