    A Creed by Edgar Guest Large Coffee Mug

    Edgar Albert Guest (1881 - 1959) was a prolific 20th century American poet whose common sense wisdom has warmed American hearts for decades. This is one of several poems he wrote called the Creed that were first published around 1910 in various collections, like " The Breakfast Table." Some of his poems have been read at commencement exercises from small colleges to West Point Military Academy. This particular poem, that is often called "Let Me Be a Little Kinder" turned up on calendars and in daily devotionals, often unattributed, and a couple of verses were even set to music by a popular country artist.
