Oshiki with triangular characters key ring

The oshiki, also known as sumikiri kaku, is a family crest. The character 'three' is a symbol of Mishima Daimyojin, or Oyamatsumi no Kami, a deity enshrined in the Seto Inland Sea. This deity is revered as both a mountain and sea god, and its spirit has been invoked throughout Japan. (from 'Kamon Hyakuwashi Ge' by Niwa Kaji). The name of this crest varies: 'Mon Den' refers to it as 'sumikiri kaku with triangular characters', 'Mon no Shiori' and 'Standard Monsho Shusei' as 'sumikaku kiri mikigi', 'Hei'an Monkan' and 'Mon no Izumi' as 'sumikiri kaku with mikigi', 'Edo Monsho Shu' as 'sumikiri with mikigi', and 'Monsho Dai Shusei' as 'sumikiri kaku with three branches'.
