    About This Design

A Young Girl Reading (The Reader) Mouse Pad

A Young Girl Reading (The Reader) Mouse Pad

“A Young Girl Reading,” or “The Reader,” was painted by Jean-Honoré Fragonard around the year 1770. A young girl is deeply absorbed in her reading. Her dress and cushion are painted with quick and fluid strokes, in broad unblended bands of startling colour: saffron, lilac, and magenta. Using the wooden tip of a brush, Fragonard scratched her ruffed collar into the surface of the paint. This is the "swordplay of the brush" that Fragonard's contemporaries described. His spontaneous brushwork, rather than the subject, becomes the focus of the painting.

Delighted with the mouse pad - thick enough to be confortable and much better quality than those in store. The printing was very crisp and the colours vivid
