About This Design

Aaron Burr Postcard

Aaron Burr Postcard

Aaron Burr's life was marked by ambition, controversy, and political intrigue during the late 18th and early 19th centuries in the United States. Born in 1756, Burr became a prominent figure in the early years of the nation. He served as a Revolutionary War officer and later entered politics, rising to become the third Vice President of the United States under President Thomas Jefferson in 1801. However, Burr's political career took a dramatic and infamous turn when he fatally shot Alexander Hamilton, a former Secretary of the Treasury, in a duel in 1804. This event tarnished his reputation and led to his political downfall. Following his vice presidency and the duel, Burr's life took a series of controversial turns. He was accused of conspiring to create an independent nation in the American Southwest, which became known as the Burr Conspiracy. Although he was acquitted of treason charges, Burr's reputation never fully recovered. He spent several years in self-imposed exile in Europe and later returned to the United States, where he lived out his life in relative obscurity and financial distress. Aaron Burr's complex life is a testament to the volatile and dynamic early years of the American republic, marked by political rivalries and personal dramas that continue to captivate historians and enthusiasts alike.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
