Beautiful artwork from the first edition of “East of the Sun and West of the Moon” (1914, Hodder & Stoughton, London) - Fifteen Norwegian tales collected by folklorists Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Engebretsen Moe and illustrated by phenomenal Kay Nielsen. “And then she lay on a little green patch in the midst of the gloomy thick wood...” is from the first North tale in the book of the same name. The illustration perfectly captures the consequences and the loss. But as with every fairytale, our heroes and heroines find a way even through the most demanding challenges! Stay enchanted and wondrous!
