The photograph shows one of the 45,000 minerals and crystals on view at the Minerology Museum in the Natural History Museum of Florence, Italy. The fantastical sliced and polished amber, yellow, red and orange geode looks like bubbling molten lava, part of some primeval volcanic eruption and appears to glow from within with ancient fire. The poster makes a beautiful abstract painting, designed by Mother Nature, and would be the perfect gift for students of natural sciences and geology as well as the geologist in your life.
