Painting depicts a farmer standing beside his daughter – often mistakenly assumed to be his wife. The painting is named for the house's architectural style. Carpenter Gothic, also sometimes called Carpenter's Gothic or Rural Gothic, is a North American architectural style-designation for an application of Gothic Revival architectural detailing and picturesque massing applied to wooden structures built by house-carpenters. American Gothic is one of the most familiar images of 20th-century American art.

The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
