Amish Women Quilting Postcard
Quilting could be found in almost every house at one time. Sewing skills were passed down from mother to daughter for generations. Today the sewing machine and quilting supplies may be housed in a sewing room and the quilter happily making quilts of all sizes. The quilts and quilters alike have earned their place in Americana. As a boy I can remember listening to the soft clickety click of the treadle sewing machine as my grandmother was sewing pieces for quilts and I played on the floor. Today quilting has become linked to the Amish. But dressmakers, tailors, seamstresses, couturiers can be found making quilts too. It is true most quilting in the home found its user to be a seamstress or dressmaker rather than a male tailor. However, quilts have become heirlooms, prized family treasures. Amish handmade are exhibited in art museums and command high prices when sold. There are numerous popular quilt patterns. There are precise geometric patterned quilts and free formed crazy quilts. In short, quilts are prized pieces of Americana because quilter and the beautiful quilts they crafted are a part of so many lives of both men and women. From seamstress and dressmaker to tailor and couturier, stitching quilts is a part of countless wonderful memories for many. Perhaps this is why the Amish women quilting is a favourite image frequently seen as wall decor in sewing rooms today. This Amish women quilting image is part of a collection of best seller images of Americana art belonging to an on going series of images of farms, sewing machines, outhouses, schoolhouses, churches, barns, birds, lighthouses plus Amish landscapes, buggies, and buildings created by Richard Neuman in his rural studio near McComb, Ohio. For 50 years Richard’s art has been continually evolving. During most of his early Americana work he used pens, brushes and watercolors. Each barn painting in this farm art series was created this way. Today he creates the images in these series using a computer. Richard has recently converted the Americana originals into digitised art of very high quality. In his studio many steps using Photoshop and several other computer art programs are blended together with fifty years of art experience to create this Amish women quilting image for you as a seamstress, tailor, couturier, dressmaker or quilter to enjoy in your sewing room or sewing business.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
