Ancient drawing Peru Warrior square Poster

Ancient drawing Peru Warrior square Poster

Our oil pastel drawing with canvas look of a detail of a fine beaker in gold, ca AD 1000, found in the beginning of the 20the century in an ancient grave in the coastal province of Lambayeque, Peru. An image of a warrior with an ornamental crown, a vandyked tunic and large ear-plugs. He's holding in his left hand a spear, similar to a rattle-staf or chicauaztli, carried by the Mexican deity Xipe. In his right hand is a circular shield with toothed border, above which rises an object with a design somewhat resembling a conventional fish-face surmounted by a crown, and below, what might be the pole, to which this fish-standard is attached. The hand of the figure shows 4 fingers, and each foot 3 toes. The Sican (also Sicán) culture is the name that archaeologist Izumi Shimada gave to the culture that inhabited what is now the north coast of Peru between about AD 750 and 1375. According to Shimada, Sican means "temple of the moon". The Sican culture is also referred to as Lambayeque culture, after the name of the region in Peru. It succeeded the Moche culture. There is still controversy among archeologists and anthropologists over whether the two are separate cultures. Questions? This image on another Zazzle gift or in another size or colour? Contact us. I originally ordered this print in a larger size but was not pleased with the clarity of it. When I contacted Zazzle, they responded really quickly and were very helpful. I was able to reorder the print in a smaller size and it was shipped to me within a couple of weeks. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it. I am so grateful to the customer service team for the professional way they handled my order. I had this printed on matt finish card and I was really pleased with the quality. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
