Apache Peaks Lumbar Cushion

As a young adult I was blessed to be able to go an travel and live out in Apache & Navajo lands for about a year. I went to heal, to get away from humans and the trauma I had experienced with most. I lived in the Coyote caves and played my flute with all sorts of amazing coloured lizards, etc... It was incredible. To me this was important to get back to some of the land and nature to connect & reconnect to my bloodline. I am what is called a "split feather" which symbolises a deep sense of cultural displacement or a fractured identity, often referring to an Indigenous person who was removed from their tribe and raised in a non-Native culture, causing a disconnect from their heritage and traditions; essentially feeling "split" between two worlds. I was split by the foster care/adoption system. My Mother was split due to death, removed from family and culture, put in Catholic Schools. Now, with more information surfacing on history, who we are, were, it's helped me as an adoptee to find who I am. This is my interpretation of the mountains I was around and lived & healed.
