General Lee was completely surrounded. After a failed attempt to break out of the village of Appomattox Courthouse, he concluded the only thing left to do was to see General Grant. This calendar contains modern day and historic photographs of the village of Appomattox Courthouse where General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S. Grant. History enthusiasts will appreciate the historic black and white photos and the present day photos taken from approximately the same camera positions used over 150 years ago. Past visitors and those that have yet to visit this historic treasure will see photographs of the scenic beauty of the village, the architectural style of the buildings and read text of the historic events that occurred there. A credit page also adds additional historic insight to some of the photographs.
