The Threatened Swan is an oil painting by Dutch artist Jan Asselijn. The large white bird is defending its nest from a dog attack. Today the work is known as a symbol of Dutch national resistance, due to slogans and text added to the painting years after the artist painted it. This is the most famous work by Jan Asselijn; the original was the first painting acquired by what is now the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. You can customise this gift!
