Edward Henry Potthast is especially well known for his paintings of people at leisure in Central Park, and on the beaches of New York and New England. This painting shows a girl and boy running together through the surf as the waves lap at their feet on the beach. It is a beautiful image of friendship, captured with great dynamism and skill. The original work was completed circa 1918.
