John Atkinson Grimshaw, Stapleton Park near Pontefract Sun, 1877. John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836 - 1893) was a Victorian-era artist, known for his city night-scenes and landscapes. True to the Pre-Raphaelite style, he created landscapes of accurate colour, lighting, vivid detail and realism. His careful painting and skill in lighting effects meant that he captured both the appearance and the mood of a scene in minute detail. Please note that the image file for this poster is not very large (2500 x 1897 pixels). That means that you can enlarge the poster just a little.
