AVALON Lady Of The Lake,Magic Reflections of Water

Watercolor painting 1988 .----------- Avalon (probably from the Welsh Celtic word afal, meaning apple; is a legendary island featured in the Arthurian legend, famous for its beautiful apples. It first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 1136 pseudohistorical account Historia Regum Britanniae ("The History of the Kings of Britain") as the place where King Arthur's sword Caliburn (Excalibur) was forged and later where Arthur is taken to recover from his wounds after the Battle of Camlann. As an "Isle of the Blessed" Avalon has parallels elsewhere in Indo-European mythology, in particular the Irish Tír na nÓg and the Greek Hesperides, also noted for its apples. Avalon was associated from an early date with immortal beings such as Morgan le Fay.

I absolutely adore Karen Vesk's Sunshine Sketches brand. Her funny felines are the absolute Cat's Meow, Karen's imagination takes her kindle of kittens on awesome adventures and you don't want to miss out. I especially like this Halloween themed Witch Cat. So many cards by other artists focus on the gross or gruesome aspect of this holiday, but this cat was a Good Witch who only practiced the Magic of Kindness. Now that's a message I want to share! The colors are vibrant and exactly as advertised. Karen works in watercolor or colored pencil and this translates well into her Greeting Card line.
