Backyard Oranges Still-Life Blank Greeting Card

Backyard Oranges is one in a series of still-life portraits of fruit picked from the yards of family and friends. These oranges are from the tree in the yard of my Aunt Helen and Uncle Ken Kurakazu in Walnut Creek, CA. The orange tree as a sapling, was a “welcome to the neighbourhood” gift from their neighbours back in 1959. It grew to be about 30 ft and yields the sweetest oranges I’d ever tasted. The original photograph was rendered into a digital “block” painting – a modern, minimalist study that celebrates the beauty and nature of this delicious homegrown fruit. The back of the card features actual Nutrition Facts that include its 100% Intangible Value based on daily gratification.
