In the fall of 1876, construction of a separate "steam motor car" to which one or more street cars could be attached was completed. The steam motor car was built to run with less noise to avoid upsetting Horses. The first steam motor car weighing about 16,000 pounds, was sent to The Citizen's Railway of Baltimore. During the next few years, about 107 Steam Motor Cars and many street cars were sold. They were used in various cities,including the Market Street Line in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and the Urbano Railway in Havana Cuba.
