Sprouting a vibrant magenta and orange flower, it’s little wonder why the Hawaiian banana tree is among my favourites. It was found in the shadow of Mount Makai (“Bali Hai”) at the Limahuli Botanical Garden on Kauai’s North Shore. This photo was taken by Brian Teeter on the island of Kauai while researching his new book, The Healthy Trekking Guide to Kauai.
