Banias Waterfall and Psalm 104:13 Photo Print

The Banias Waterfall is located in the north of Israel at the base of Mount Hermon, 25 miles north of the Sea of Galilee. Unlike much of the land of the Bible which is dry desert, the area surrounding the Banias Waterfall is well watered, benefitting from the snow melt off the nearby mountain. The water which goes over the fall comes from a spring, and after going over the falls it flows south into the Sea of Galilee, then down the Jordan River into the Dead Sea. This is one of the great contrasts of the land of the Bible. Mount Hermon reaches elevations of 7,300 feet above sea level and has enough snow to snow ski. A mere 100 miles away the water from the Banias Waterfall flows into the Dead Sea, a desert area with very little rainfall, and at 1400 feet below sea level, the lowest land elevation on earth.
