Admittedly, Bath was not Austen's favourite place to live, but she loved to get out and go for long walks, and no doubt walked up these steps to the top of Beechen Cliff, the way Catherine does.
Taken from an original painting by award-winning watercolor artist, Carolyn Marshall Wright; based on a photo taken by author Lori Smith, during research for her book, A Walk with Jane Austen.
