Birthday postcard inspired by an Egyptian style ornamental flower found in a 19th century pattern book (Auguste Racinet, L' ornement polychrome, 1869-1873).
The blue lotus, also called the sacred blue lily, is very important in Egyptian mythology. Since the flowers are closed at night and open again in the morning, the flower is regarded as a symbol for the sun, creation and rebirth.
