Black Country Flag Classic Round Sticker
The Black Country is an area within the West Midlands of England. It has a long and proud tradition of agriculture and industry; mostly the latter.
A Victorian traveller described the region as 'black by day and red by night', due to the factories, foundries and coal-mining pits. Today, all of those have been closed down and the region is much cleaner. Albeit prone to high levels of unemployment.
The Black Country flag recalls that description and inserts the chimney of the glass foundry kiln in the middle, as representative of all the other local industries too.
