About This Design
Black Hawk Weathervane Postcard
Henry Leach, born New Milford, PA 1809-died Montrose, PA 1885Henry Leach probably based this design on an early lithographic portrait of the racehorse Black Hawk, a popular winner of the 1840s and subject of many weather vanes. The manufacturer L. W. Cushing and Sons used this wooden pattern to create a hollow iron mould, from which many copper vanes could be produced.Smithsonian American Art Museum

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
