Black History Month Heroes Name Stack Tote Bag

Black History Month, an annual observance from the United States, began as a way to remember important people & events in the history of the African diaspora. Carter G. Woodson chose February as it coincided with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass (2/14) and Abraham Lincoln (2/12). The people in our name-stack are a sample of the many inspiring figures of black history: George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Maya Angelou, Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Ida B. Wells, Barack Obama. The red, yellow & green colours of this design are a nod to the Pan-African colours: red for the campaign for freedom, yellow (gold) for mineral wealth, and green for the natural green areas of the continent.
