Black Lives Matter Brayden Young Boy Stop Killing Us I Can't Breathe Jackie Carpenter Fight RacismWhen I first painted "Grateful" it was painted as a gift for my brother and his wife. The child in this painting is my nephew Brayden who was adopted by her brother and sister in-law. I wanted to be sure that my nephew always knew just how grateful the entire family was and is for him. His eyes light up a room and he brings such joy into the family. What a wonderful blessing adoption can be. Now, I've added those very famous words "Black Lives Matter" because I want people to understand that these men,women and children that keep dying at the hands of our police are someone's child. They aren't just nameless thugs like some want us to believe. They have families, mother's, sister's, brother's, people who love them. They are someone's world. It's my way of saying "Stop killing them." I hope you can spread the word. I do know the pain these families are going through, I lost a brother too. It's something so senseless, and wrong.
