The smith a jolly man is he
With strong and clever hands;
He has his jolly comrades three
To blow the fiery brands.
Three little gnomes are hanging from the handle of the bellows pumping it to make the fire hot. The smith is hammering on a shovel which is being held steady on the anvil with a pair of tongs by his helper. This fantastical illustration and verse are from an antique 1899 children's book.
