Blue Crab with Chesapeake Bay Nautical Chart Jigsaw Puzzle

This design features a digitally remastered and enhanced version of a Blue Crab (Lupa decanta). James Ellsworth De Kay originally illustrated the vintage hand-drawn image in the Zoology of New York (1842-1844). This version of the blue crab has had the text removed, including the plate number (3). The background has also been removed and replaced with a nautical chart. Various crab elements have been digitally restored, modified, and enhanced. The chart used for the background is titled, “Chesapeake Bay Pocomoke and Tangier Sounds”, nautical chart 12228. Navigational features on the chart include Pocomoke Sound and Tangier Sound. The chart has also been modified to remove the solid magenta lane separation marker and the danger area. Certain products in our NauticalChart Store utilise cropped or edited elements on the chart. I have removed or modified sections of this chart to improve its overall aesthetic image quality. Cropping and reprinting this chart makes it unsuitable for navigation. However, this chart is ideal for home and business decor. Framed nautical charts make great conservation pieces.
