Boca Grande Railroad Station 1928

The railroad was Boca Grande's link to the world. The Charlotte Harbour and Northern Railroad not only transported phosphate and supplies it also brought wealthy visitors from the north to Gasparilla Island. By 1910 Boca Grande Pass was already luring sport fisherman to its waters for the Tarpon fishing. Development on the island followed soon after creating the village of Boca Grande and the makings of a picturesque Island resort destination off Florida's southwest coast. The charming card is a reproduction of d.a.gordon dart's painting.
