Boynton Canyon Trail Card

The Boynton Canyon Trail moves up a broad canyon from an exposed, chapparal covered plain into a cool, shaded, conifer forest. This trail begins with a short uphill trek through scrub oak and juniper and goes around the Enchantment Resort at the canyon's mouth. The trail comes back down and then moves through an elfin forest of manzanita. It also goes past a side path, at about a mile and a half, which leads to a cliff-side alcove and ruins of the Sinaguan Indian civilisation that dwelt here. The trail's final miles goes up through shady ponderosa pine and dies out as the slope steepens. Bring plenty of water. Photography by Minerva Bloom.
