Broad-billed hummingbird males are a rich green with a shimmering blue throat and a red bill tipped in black. They can be found in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and extreme southwestern New Mexico of the Southwestern United States and northern Sonora of Northwestern Mexico. A few have been seen in southernmost California to Texas, Georgia, and Louisiana.
