Brodick Castle – Scottish Hamilton Clan Tote Bag

Like many powerful Scottish clans, the Hamilton family is associated with more than one castle. The oldest, Brodick Castle, is a red sandstone edifice on the Isle of Arran at the foot of Goatfell Mountain. A stronghold of some kind has existed there since the fifth century, and it is thought to have been destroyed and rebuilt numerous times over the generations. In 1503, James IV presented the castle and lands to his cousin, Lord Hamilton. Today it is owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Open to the public, Brodick Castle houses a priceless collection of paintings, porcelain and silver.
