A nursery flock of geese swims past. The whole flock is about twice as big as what's shown. When the goslings hatch they stay only with their parents for the first weeks. Then the family congregates with other goose families, forming a large loose flock where the kids swim together and several adults keep watch. It's also rest time for weary parents ... while some watch the babies, others go off into a quiet group to float and preen and maybe dream. Nature photography by Sylvia Rose.
